where will this road take us?
today, i realize the time is now.
this isn't the first time i experienced this feeling of immediate action. last august, i decided that i was ripe for a trip out west. a week later i booked a ticket and started making arrangements for a 2 month journey. in february, i woke up and told myself that today is the day i apply for a passport. two weeks later, i had my passport in hand. a week after receiving my passport, i woke up and told myself that today is the day i decide to go international. a few days passed and i had booked a ticket to spain with a friend.
so, today here is the result... a blog entitled same song, different day.

why a blog? i'm not really sure, but i've become accustomed to journalling and i feel like this is the next logical step. i write, draw, and store artifacts from my travels within my moleskin journal, in hopes of one day looking back and recalling the details of my experience. i presume this blog will offer me that same satisfaction along with the pleasure of impacting an audience.

friends and family have urged me to give it a shot. some have been gracious when i offer a sliver a wisdom and others have encouraged me to share more. i read a lot of articles online and yesterday my interest was sparked when i came across a piece detailing a man's pursuit to create his own "life list." this one article took the momentum of "the buried life" and "the bucket list" and ignited my passion for this project. i've created a few "life lists" describing all the things i want to do before i die and it seems like today is an opportunity to partially cross out #52.

#52 - create and sustain a daily blog for one full year

so, here we are. without solid direction or defined goals, i begin to write. i'm a little anxious regarding the content, however i think it'll work itself out.
anxious, who wouldn't be? it's the first time i'm taking a chance on free-writing my thoughts for my friends, family, and general public. the anxiety is normal and i won't let it curb my effort.

i follow only three blogs... i read each of them with a very simple purpose: to expand my current understanding of everything. in writing a blog, i hope that at least one person will be moved by the words written. unfortunately, my thoughts and experiences are as "normal" as the next person's... so, don't get too excited. my curiosity is the force that pushes this project forward and i plan on offering a thought/entry/song a day for the entire year. i can't help but wonder what this blog, it's readers, and the author (ME) will look like a year from now. in an effort to let you know what you're getting into, here are three guarantees for same song, different day readers:

1) quality music recommendations - this blog is more than just a page of words, it will essentially act as a collective of "our" favorite music. i will offer the readers an assortment of musicians, songs, and bands with the expectation that you will eventually share your favorites with me.
2) you will be reading a blog with an excellent title - seriously, i think "same song, different day" is a winner.
3) something readable, if you can read - grammar, spelling, and the reader's enjoyment is an entirely different story.

...and so, it begins.
